Fourth of July

Even though it's August, there were still a lot of wildflowers this week. This bunch was just below Diamond Lake on the Fourth of July trail.

Brainard Lake

This is the lake we camped at in Indian Peaks last weekend. The campground is at 10,300 ft. It is one of the more spectacular drive-in campgrounds I've ever been in.

Blue Lake

Blue Lake in Indian Peaks Wilderness. It's a pretty easy hike from Brainard Lake. As a result, it's not very seculded, but it's very pretty.

Twin Peaks View

We took a hike on Tuesday up the Twin Peaks trail, about 40 miles southwest of Douglas, Wyoming. This was the view from as high as we went - we had Caroline with us, so we couldn't go too far.

Wyoming Thunderstorm

Shot from the window of a car traveling 75 mph on our way from Denver to Casper. Awesome storm cells.

This photo is in my "Texas can be pretty" series. This is Pedernales River near Austin.

Viedma Glacier

Looking up the Viedma Glacier in Argentina. We're near the terminus of the glacier, so the lanscape is fractured and the ice is pretty dirty. Photographically speaking, though, all that dirt really lends contrast to all the serrations.

Lost Creek Rocks

Good thing I'm going on vacation this week. I'm starting to run out of material. This is a rewind to 2004, and our trip to Lost Creek Wilderness in Colorado. Lost creek is pretty close to Denver, lower in elevation than many wilderness areas in Colorado, and pretty uncrowded (at least on an early June weekend). The main attraction is the pretty impressive rock formations.
