Cameron Valley

Sarah, Jen O, Ian, Gavin, and I went backpacking in Olympic National Park over Labor Day. We started from the Obstruction Point trailhead and camped in Grand Valley at Moose Lake. The next day, we hiked up to Cameron Pass. This is the view from the pass down into Cameron Valley. I'd been encouraging a packing trip in the Olympics for a while. Sarah seemed lukewarm, though. When we finally got there, I found out why. Apparently, since the peaks are only 6000-8000 ft high she'd been picturing old, rolling, Appalachian-style mountains. As you can see, that's not quite what they're like.

I love the barren landscapes of high mountains.. but there's something cozy and peaceful about a weekend in rolly forested appalacian-style scenery.

I was totally picturing round mountains. These were much cooler than I expected. :)
