Hankins Pass

This tree is at the top of Hankins Pass in Lost Creek Wilderness, Colorado. We were hiking there with Becca last June. It was about 8:30 or 9:00 am when Gavin and I got up to the top of the pass. We hadn't been making as good time as we'd hoped the day before, so Gavin was going to go back and get the car with a light pack while Becca and I hiked out to a closer trailhead. It meant that we had to get up really early to go up the pass, but that provided us some really neat lighting during the hike.

Ooh, the sky is really cool here.
Thanks! This was my favorite photo from the trip. It would have been nice if the sun was out at this time, too, but I guess you can't have everything!
